The Mass Updating Of Products - Lots of Account Executions On my Server

Hey everyone,

I posted this under another thread, but now I decided to post it as a separate one, to see the different viewpoints you might have or to see if you have the same problem as I do.

So the copy of my post is below:

Does that mean that in order to update all products (say I have 400 products) in terms of current supplier's price and current quantity on stock - I have to do this long-lasting process all the time - in other words the mass update under "settings" > "updates"?

Could this be done for each product automatically say at the end of the day or when there is a change for a specific product, instead of me updating all of my products every night? For 400 products that's a long process... I mean still it's much better than to do all this on my own, but I have an ambition to have a bigger online store - say 600-700 products, and the way I see it that'd be difficult within the current circumstances. How are the big online dropshippers with thousands of products doing it??

Thanks for all of the input guys, that's how we all help each other to improve our stores!

So in addition I will add this:

So far the webstore that I'm building has about 250 products. I did initiate this mass update today, to test the system. It froze at 21% and it won't continue. So when I checked my CPU usage and Account executions of my webhosting through my cpanel, I have over-exceeded my 8000 daily account executions almost immediately. That's why I think it froze, as there must be some sort of automatic switch, that blocks me from using more of the shared resources on my shared hosting (which is from a very reliable and reputable hosting provider).

THE BIG QUESTION IS:

DO you have this same problem?? Do I really need to purchase a cloud hosting (about $90-$100 a month), to be able to run my updates regularly for a bigger webstore, and not have the problem of running out of stock and telling customers all the time that we "sold out" after they have placed the order already? That's the main reason I purchased this plug-in as it gives the opportunity to update stock automatically

I am looking forward to hear your insights on the subject.

Thanks in advance for any of the suggestions

It is rather complicated to add something like a cron for auto-updating system, because AliExpress API does not return any data about variations. Another solution is parcing content directly, but here we come across with captcha problem from AliExpress, because it detects that it is done by the server, not the browser. Anyway, we are looking for solutions.

We have no issues with updating stores with 300 products (dedicated server).

what if you were able to implement a system to import 10's if not 100's of aliexpress account usernames and passwords, and import 10's if not 100's of backconnect proxies so that way you can run 100's of threads at a time which would auto update faster. Would such a system like this work for those with huge sites?

Thanks for the replies guys. I was just about to post. So yeah, basically I switched to the entry level cloud hosting (For $80 a month), that's got 3 CPU cores, and 4 gig of Ram with a very useful autos-calling feature - where additional CPU cores or RAM get added if you overuse the current resources. So for now problem is solved and all of my 300 products now get updated 100%.

Thanks

Wow!! 27k - how long it took you to import soooo many products! That must have been months man :)) by the way I am very surprised that your shared hosting have allowed you to execute so many account executions and CPU usage. The shared hosting that I used not until yesterday, would freeze my update process at about 20-25%. And then I would automatically get an update message from my hosting company that they'll limit my account if this persists.

To answer your question, with the cloud hosting now, it takes me about 10-15 minutes to update 300 products.

So if it's not a secret how's your online business going considering you have the mind-blowing 27 k products? I am just starting so that's why I ask (to get eventually inspired by somebody else's success!! )

Ya no kidding thinking i will get with OHV Canadian dedicated server hosting to get faster speed and updating. Good to know it takes that long so i can gauge how fast it would be for me to update my products.

Currently no sales and no marketing yet. Still developing my website whether it be seo, pricing structures, marketing layouts etc. Plan to wait it out until black friday to buy the bulk of my software and services and hit the ground running a month from that point on. You'll be hearing alot about my progress here in these forums cause not only do i find the plugin worth the money, i want to be involved with the community and help suggest new features. New and better features can only make you more money.

Check this thread, will help with your social proof even more.

Good luck Nor! I have the feeling that with 27K products, you have a great chance of making your store a successful story. Would you mind sharing what kind of software you intend to buy - I am assuming something that will automate some of the main aspects of the dropshipping model, and giving you more time to maintain other sites as well - am I correct?
