Tracking purchase events, how? For analytics.

I know there is the thank you for purchase page. And on this forum people suggest me add purchase tracking code to that page. But does it have the purchased order price so I can track the exact money amount?

I don't understand why you have to put individual in each page the tracking code!!
Nobody use it in this way...

Because there is a flow of events to analyze and to improve each step and see where people are going away

visit -> add to cart -> checkout initiated -> purchase made
