last few weeks my site started receiving numbers of spam users. any suggestion how can i reduce this. and is there a way to differentiate legit and non-legit visitors?

If it's the comments that's disturbing you, apply akismet plugin and say goodbye to comment spammers.

Askiment won't help. That's only for comment SPAM. Install the "Wordfence" security plugin and say goodbye to those bot signups.
