my plugin will not activate with license key

I enter in my license key and get a pop up saying, Congratulations the plugin is activated. BUT the plugin will not activate and continues asking for a license key. I also updated default settings from http to https.

Most errors here are due to plugin not compatible with the PHP version. Check the PHP version of your site and install the plugin that is compatible.
