Hi,

I have MAMP Pro set-up to use my domain. The site works fine when I push it to my live server and I can edit products, etc...
But locally, all I get is the "LICENSE KEY - Activate" page. When I use my code it says the code is valid but nothing changes.

So, back to my questions... Is it possible to work on a plugin install locally? Developing a site on a server is very counter-productive.

Any help is very appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: Just managed to get this working locally. I had to remove SSL from my local server since my live is currently not using SSL.

So... to get back to my question. Will my license only work on a http:// (non-ssl) site since this is where I first used it?

It will work on any URL configuration. But the first time you activate it , it is locked to that URL with Alidropship.com. So if you activated it on https://xxx.com, that URL is recorded with alidropship.com. If you change the URL to http://xxx.com, that's a different URL You need to contact Aldropship support and ask them to change their records.

Hi @Avito , did you tried to import products with Aliwoo locally?

I remember trying using it locally but wasn't able to import products at all. I had ioncube loader installer locally also, don't remember if i was on https or not. But it didn't import any products, so I ended up reinstalling it on live server directly.

I agree If it works I would be really cool and avoid me a lot of problem in the beginning.

@Victoria Kudryashova @Ekaterina Sayapina any experience or feedback on this much appreciated ;-)

Yup @Direct Webstore but I was talking about it in the case you already bought a domain name, and use the same exact domain name locally like you could do it in MAMP with ioncube loader installed.

Which makes me wonder if alidropship protection is also tied on the server IP also, because I consider changing EU zone for US zone for SEO purposes.

So it could work... but I won't waste time on this, since I already tried and it didn't worked so until we have a firm answers from the devs I will work as usual

What you can do is create a new A record for your domain point to your local ip address (not 127.0.0.1 but your actual ip address). Then once done, goto your router and setup port forwarding to your main computer's ipaddress (this one will be port 80 and 443 on ip 192.168.0.x usually, check your ip with (winkey +r, type cmd, hit enter, type ipconfig and verify)). Once complete you visit yoursub.yourdomain.com and that will forward traffic to your local computer and you should be able to activate.

I did however read in order to use a previously activated license you need to contact support to unlink your currently active license, or get another key for "beta" testing. I would recommend once you get everything setup and activated to do a full backup of your database and files after install to have a "fresh back" of current files and db so you dont have issues when you need to reset stuff just reimport your db and files and be good to go.

I really don't see the necessity for it. Unless you're on some kind of super expensive metered internet connection you can't afford or it's just a sort of "geeky hobby related" thing ... lol :) I gave up developing sites on MAMP type setups years ago as a general waste of time, ever since internet speeds and costs improved. As long as I have a decent and stable internet connection it's makes much more sense to do it all live online (in maintenance mode) . I think you're complicating something that has no need to be complicated. But that's just my opinion. If you're just doing it "for fun" ... well fair enough. :)

Actually ... this is so damned obvious it didn't occur to me ... but of course you can't import products into a store plugin thats setup on an offline server. Why? Because it's OFFLINE lol. It can't connect to Aliexpress. Lol :)
