is it ok to remove "powered by wordpress" or "powered by xx plugin"

hello everyone.

I wanna remove wordpress and other footer credits from my website so i just wanna know is there any problem? or can I have a green signal for that :)
like i read article how to hide powered by wordpress
but i'm not sure about it. can someone please confirm it.

also i found 2 ways to remove it

1- by plugins

2- by manually i mean by put some code on .php file i think

so whats the easiest way to do it.
