Dropshipping in 2026 - is it still worth starting from scratch or are we all too late?

Alright guys, real talk.
I keep seeing two completely opposite camps here. One side says dropshipping is dead and anyone starting now is wasting their time. The other side keeps posting wins and says there's never been a better time.
I've been running my store for about 8 months now. Honestly? Some months are great, some months I wanna throw my laptop out the window. But I'm still here and still growing - so I'm obviously not in the "it's dead" camp.
What I actually wanna know is - for people who started their first store in the last 1-2 years, was it harder than you expected? Easier? Did you almost quit and if so what made you stick around?
And for the OGs who've been doing this since like 2018-2019 - is the game actually harder now or do beginners just think it's harder because they compare themselves to people with years of experience?
Drop your honest take below. No sugarcoating, no "just believe in yourself bro" energy. Real numbers, real experiences, real talk only.

Started 14 months ago, almost quit around month 3 when I had zero sales for like 6 weeks straight. What kept me going was honestly just stubbornness lol. Now I'm pulling around $2k/month profit consistently. Is it harder than 2019? Probably. But I think the bigger issue is people expect results in like 30 days and when it doesn't happen they peace out. The ones who stick around past month 4-5 usually figure it out.
