Disabling "Enable Features" and banner images in Michelangelo does not work

I want to hide the bar of "features" on the main page of this theme but when I uncheck the box and save the item remains.

Likewise, I don't want 3 images in the carousel so I deleted the images and removed the associated text yet the blanks remain. Is there a way to get rid of these elements?
