Child theme

In my da vinci woo i use the default way in the theme for I create a child theme.

1) function.php area nothing work properly.

2) some of the files I copy in my child theme is not overide the parent theme.

For example my main-header file and the blog-header are working ok in my child theme when I motified them.

But the mobile menu is not working when I copy the file in my child theme ,but the modified things I do is working on the parent theme...

So I have 2 question.

1)How I make it work and if not working the second option....

If I install the a new plugin for I create a new child theme how i move the setting of my old child theme to new one?
Or I have to start from scratch?

Can you tell me more details about this app? I the first time see it. You made me curious. I am very fond of babies, so topics about them excite me.
