how do i stop aliwoo from importing the general product attributes?

If I understand you correctly, you can't prevent product attributes import, indeed. You can just delete them after importing.
You should keep in mind that if you delete one of the main/basic attribute product variations can't be built.

You can delete them on the step of importing. But if some of them are displayed after that it means that remaining attribute is used for variations creation.
