Pricing strategy for seasonal products - do you change markup rules or just pause the products?

Trying to figure out the smartest way to handle seasonal inventory in my store. I sell a mix of evergreen products and stuff that has obvious seasonal demand - think outdoor gear, holiday related items, that kind of category.
Right now when something goes out of season I just leave it listed and it sits there doing nothing. Feels wasteful but I also don't want to delete products I'll want back in a few months. The other option I've been considering is adjusting the pricing formula during off season to squeeze whatever margin I can from the occasional sale, then bumping it back up when demand returns.
Has anyone built a real system around this? Specifically wondering whether the pricing rule tools in the plugin are flexible enough to do seasonal adjustments at the category level without touching every product individually, or if that requires manual work each time. Also curious whether pausing products completely hurts your store's standing on any level or if it's totally neutral.

Category level pricing rules handle this fine in my experience. I have a separate rule set for my seasonal category that I just toggle between peak and off peak markup. Takes maybe five minutes twice a year. Definitely don't delete seasonal products - the listing history has value when they come back around.

i just hide them from the storefront without deleting. keeps the product data intact, doesn't confuse customers browsing, and i can unhide in like two clicks when the season turns. never noticed any negative effect from doing it this way for about two years now
