DEFAULT CURRENCY & DEFAULT DATABASE CURRENCY

I've set up both Payment Gateways with Stripe & Paypal in "Australian dollar ($)" as I'm Australian and these are also registered in Australia.

I assume in General Settings , I would also set as my DEFAULT DATABASE CURRENCY "Australian dollar ($)". I think this is given and not a variable for my situation. Can anyone confirm my understanding is correct.

Furthermore as my principal target market will be the USA do you recommend I set DEFAULT CURRENCY as "US Dollar ($)" or have it as "Australian dollar ($)"

I also understand if I add "US Dollar ($)" as an ADDITIONAL CURRENCY with the CURRENCY LOCATION being enabled, than as system is geospecific than someone in USA who is on my site will have "US Dollar ($)" come up anyway by virtue of the ADDITIONAL CURRENCY functionality

I'd appreciate any assistance as I'm a newbie

Now I understand your other thread a little better. No. It is NOT correct.

You are after all pretending your store is based in the U.S, right? If you are mainly targeting the U.S, set EVERYTHING in your store to U.S dollars. Anyone in other countries, including Australia will checkout in U.S dollars.

Paypal will convert all the U.S dollar payments into Aussie dollars when they are paid into your Paypal account.
Stripe will convert all the U.S dollar payments into Aussie dollars when they are paid into your bank account.

Bottom line ...

1. Your store, ALL in U.S dollars
2. Paypal and Stripe ... makes no difference what currency, they convert it to Aussie dollars when paying into your Paypal and bank accounts.
